New Campus Plants

Our Story

Woodside was founded in 1955 as Big Beaver Baptist Church in Troy, Michigan. In 2005, Pastor Doug Schmidt (Woodside’s Senior Pastor from 1991 – 2019) prayerfully led us to merge with a struggling church in Warren, forming our second campus. Since then, our Woodside family has continued to grow through additional mergers and church plants throughout Southeast Michigan. Today, we are one family across 13 communities.

Why We Plant

At Woodside, we believe that people everywhere desperately need Jesus. To live that out, we are dedicated to:

  • Caring for our existing campuses.
  • Planting new campuses as beacons of the Gospel.

As we pray over the future of Woodside, we believe God is calling us to bring the Good News to the educational, political, and economic hubs of our state. The ideas and convictions formed in these places will one day shape our state, our country, and our world.
